A GREAT Way to Decorate your Harp!

by Elizabeth on July 23, 2009

Do you have a harp with a plain soundboard?  Have you ever wished you could dress it up a little bit?  Have you ever wished you could decorate your harp in a non-permanent way for different holidays or seasons but didn’t know how?

Are you someone like me whose drawing/artistic abilities never got beyond very rudimentary stick figures?

Well, do I have an answer for you!

There is a terrific lady named Barbara Dixon who makes beautiful vinyl cling decals that you can use to decorate the soundboard of your harp!  The designs are in beautiful, full color and are printed on vinyl sheets that cling to your harp pretty much by static, so they can be changed out, repositioned, or removed entirely without doing a thing to change the sound or finish on your harp.  And the same decals can be used again and again!

Barbara has a new website at harpdecals.com.  She is working with a web designer, and the “www” part of the address is not working just yet, but this link should work fine for now.

I “met” Barbara on the Yahoo group called virtualharpcircle and have been really pleased with the decals I have purchased.  It is really nice to be able to decorate your harp without having to make it a permanent change!

And the price ain’t bad either!

Check it out, and please let me know what you think!

I think this is an intriguing project. I have been teaching collegiate harp and piano at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, for MANY years. I teach both lever and pedal harp, and play in different orchestras, as well as for weddings, parties, etc. I also teach individual private lessons to a small clientele. Good luck on finding as many of us harpists/harpers as you can!!
