harplessonsOnline Lessons Now Available on Your Desktop, Laptop or Ipad2 Using Skype, ooVoo, or Facetime!

I have been teaching harp to students age 10 and up for more than 20 years. I will also accept students under the age of ten if they have previous musical experience and already know how to read music and understand the necessity for regular practice.

I provide instruction for lever harp, pedal harp, and cross-strung harp. If you already know how to read music, that’s great, but we can start from scratch if we need to.

Whether you are a young student wanting to play in your school orchestra and perhaps go on to be a harp major in college or an older, adult learner who just wants to play for your own enjoyment, I would be delighted to help you learn to play this most wonderful instrument.

If you live in the Houston, Texas area, I would be happy to provide lessons for you in my home studio in NW Houston. Lessons are $45 per one-hour lesson. 90-minute lessons are also available for $65.00 each.

If you are in the Houston area, I can also help you find a harp to rent or buy. If you are anywhere else in the U.S. or the world, I will do my best to help you locate an appropriate harp to get started with.

If you are not close to Houston and have no harp teacher close to where you live, please contact me about taking live, online video harp lessons using Skype, ooVooo, or FaceTime on the Ipad2. The price of lessons is the same, and getting set up to do online lessons is easy.

As an introductory offer, I am offering a 5% discount off of your first four lessons if you pay for four lessons at one time. This offer applies to lessons in person or online. Payment is accepted in cash or via Paypal in advance of lessons.

Please contact me to set up your weekly lesson time. For online lessons, the first session will include a little extra time for equipment set up at no additional cost, if needed.

You can view my Student Information Sheet here.  Either fill it out, scan it and e-mail it to me or answer the questions in an e-mail.

You can also download and read my Studio Policies here. It is very important to read and understand these policies before we begin lessons.

I’ve learned about music more than ever, even with 5 years of playing violin. Really fun and fantastic teacher :)

Betsy started teaching me in October 2009. I am really enjoying it, especially since I wasn’t at all sure that I could ever play hands together at my advanced senior age. She is so encouraging and has led me along at a reasonable pace, that it is hard to realize how much I have progressed until I look back to the beginning. Yes! I am playing hands together. She doesn’t require me to play anything I don’t like. I had never played a stringed instrument before, but it soon made sense to me. I take by ooVoo and it is just like the times I have been to her studio. I shouldn’t have put it off so long!

I started taking lessons online with Elizabeth via Skype, and the progress that I have made with harp has surprised me greatly! I never could imagine that using a web camera could be an efficient way to learn how to play the harp, but Elizabeth has a system set up that allows her students to understand how to play music on the harp while still monitoring the fundamentals of hand position. She is a great teacher and I really enjoy taking lessons from her. She is never hesitant to help a student anytime of the week. I am extremely pleased with our lessons!

Hello,
I am a beginner plus type intermediate piano player. I recently
decided that I wanted to learn/play the harp. I used to play
the double bass in high school orchestra. This is now 60 years later.
My goal is to play hymns.
I have rented a harp from stoneyend harp store. It is called the
Marion and has 36 strings. It is tuned to e flat. I am considering
taking some lessons. But first I have to become familiar with
what I have.
Thus I might like to take lessons on line since I live in Ft. Ashby WV
and don’t know any harpist close by.
I’m not sure when I might want to start.

My daughter has been taking lessons for over a year from Betsy and I have been amazed at the progress she has made. Her only other music experience is playing the double bass. Betsy has made learning the harp a great experience for my daughter. We recently switched to the online lessons and it has been great.

Hello, I would like to start taking harp lessons. I am a beginner with some music background. I played the clarinet in junior high, but now I would love to learn to play the harp. I am pursuing a degree in music (in the harp), and I need to start learning for my audition. I want to be a professional harpist one day! I also live in Edna, Texas…(about 2 hrs from Houston). I would like to rent a harp as well, and eventually invest in one, but I’m not sure what kind. Please contact me, thank you.
