Hello, I would like to start taking harp lessons. I am a beginner with some music background. I played the clarinet in junior high, but now I would love to learn to play the harp. I am pursuing a degree in music (in the harp), and I need to start learning for my audition. I want to be a professional harpist one day! I also live in Edna, Texas...(about 2 hrs from Houston). I would like to rent a harp as well, and eventually invest in one, but I'm not sure what kind. Please contact me, thank you.

My daughter has been taking lessons for over a year from Betsy and I have been amazed at the progress she has made. Her only other music experience is playing the double bass. Betsy has made learning the harp a great experience for my daughter. We recently switched to the online lessons and it has been great.

Hello,
I am a beginner plus type intermediate piano player. I recently
decided that I wanted to learn/play the harp. I used to play
the double bass in high school orchestra. This is now 60 years later.
My goal is to play hymns.
I have rented a harp from stoneyend harp store. It is called the
Marion and has 36 strings. It is tuned to e flat. I am considering
taking some lessons. But first I have to become familiar with
what I have.
Thus I might like to take lessons on line since I live in Ft. Ashby WV
and don't know any harpist close by.
I'm not sure when I might want to start.

I started taking lessons online with Elizabeth via Skype, and the progress that I have made with harp has surprised me greatly! I never could imagine that using a web camera could be an efficient way to learn how to play the harp, but Elizabeth has a system set up that allows her students to understand how to play music on the harp while still monitoring the fundamentals of hand position. She is a great teacher and I really enjoy taking lessons from her. She is never hesitant to help a student anytime of the week. I am extremely pleased with our lessons!

Betsy started teaching me in October 2009. I am really enjoying it, especially since I wasn't at all sure that I could ever play hands together at my advanced senior age. She is so encouraging and has led me along at a reasonable pace, that it is hard to realize how much I have progressed until I look back to the beginning. Yes! I am playing hands together. She doesn't require me to play anything I don't like. I had never played a stringed instrument before, but it soon made sense to me. I take by ooVoo and it is just like the times I have been to her studio. I shouldn't have put it off so long!

I've learned about music more than ever, even with 5 years of playing violin. Really fun and fantastic teacher :)
